Well, I need to say this is not my first experience with a wiki space. Last year a group of teachers participated with the gifted class as we read "The Boy in The Stripped Pajamas." We had to read sections and then post our own thoughts about what we had read, and make comments about what the students had posted.
Well, now I have one of my own. http://23thingssandbox.barrow.wikispaces.net/chrispannell
Hope to add more soon.
See ya on the other side.

Chris, how might you use wikis in your class? Can you please provide us with some more of your thoughts about wikis according to the task directions?
ReplyDeleteWrite a blog post sharing your thoughts and observations about the educational wiki projects you have explored.
* Provide details/examples from at least three wikis that you actually investigated
o -- e.g. What did you notice about their organization, content, tools used, learning outcomes?
o What was missing?
o What could you do differently or better?
* In your post, please also share initial ideas you have for wiki use in classroom, professional or personal learning.
* Please be sure to LINK to every wiki you mention in your post, and include "Thing 7" in the title of your post.
Feel free to edit your above post.
Thanks,
Caroline
Well, I have looked at many different wiki's. I have noticed that no two are the same. But, I have noticed that they all seem to be around the same purpose. They all ask you to express your thoughts and feelings and make others question themselves at the same time. When we did the book study, we as teachers were asked to make up questions to drive the students further into their own knowledge and see how they felt about this book.
ReplyDeleteI think I would use this most often with a book study group to make them resound ideas off of each other and hopefully get more out of the book than just reading it because they had too.
I know when we had our training on Wiki's, the main purpose was to create our lesson plans in the wiki and then the administrator of the wiki could simply read them and we would not have to copy them any more.
I would have to say that we are just scratching the surface of what technology can and will do in the future.
