The words DA investigates and education are never a good combination. Here is a perfect example of administrators so caught up in making AYP and having good test scores that they have now jeopardized there careers and apparently lost. As of this post the principal has resigned and the assistant has been reassigned. Will have to keep following updates on this as I know more will be coming out on this one.

  1. To me, this is just sad. It is that teachers and/or administrators are so worried about AYP that they have lost faith in their teaching abilities. It is sad that in an attempt to leave "No Child Behind," we are in fact leaving more behind with actions such as these. The idea of accountability is an absolutely great one, but not everything is in black and white. There are gray areas. Teachers don't have control over everything. We can't control if a kid physically comes to school. We can't control if a kid mentally comes to school. We can't control what a kid thinks about: some think about school, some think about the opposite sex, and then some worry about what they are fixing their siblings for dinner that night. We can't control if a kid tries on a test. All of these things effect test scores which determines AYP. So, we are accountable for everything, but don't control everything.

    A final note:
Why should we be accountable when others arn't? Didn't we just "bail out" a bunch of people and companies? Where is their accountability?

  2. Here Here I agree with you 100% and even more. We try and do the best we can, but then here we have these CEO making BILLIONS and we (the American people) have to bail their companies out of bankruptcy.
